Trunks

Within the PBX module, click on the "Trunks" option to access the administration of the SIP trunks configured in your Sagicc instance.

A SIP trunk (Session Initiation Protocol) is a virtual connection that allows the transmission of phone calls and other types of communications over the Internet. Instead of relying on physical phone lines, a SIP trunk uses the SIP protocol to manage signaling and call establishment over an IP (Internet Protocol) network. These trunks facilitate voice, video, and data communication, offering a modern and efficient alternative to traditional phone lines.

By selecting the "Trunks" option, you will access a list where you can view all the trunks previously configured in the platform. For each trunk in the list, basic information such as name, host, user, creation date, and status will be displayed. By clicking the "Add Trunk" button (located in the upper right corner), a form will be displayed, allowing you to add a new trunk to the platform.

An important detail is that in this list, you can check the current status of each trunk, indicating the connection situation. The possible states are as follows:

  • Unreachable: SIP connection could not be established with the provided configuration.

  • Connected: SIP connection was established successfully.

  • Unknown: No information is available about the SIP connection status.

Also, in the upper right corner, you can click the "Refresh" button to update the list and view the most current information. Additionally, in the options column of the list, you will have the possibility to deploy (put into production) or stop the execution of a specific trunk by pressing the respective icons.

Also, from the Options column in the list, you can Edit or Delete an existing trunk, as needed.

Add Trunk

To add a trunk, click on the "Add Trunk" button from the Trunks list.

Sagicc will take you to the trunk creation form, where you must enter the following required information:

  • Name: Enter a unique name for your trunk, making sure it does not match other trunk names.

  • Host: Indicate the IP address or URL of the SIP server you want to connect to.

  • User: Enter the username associated with the SIP profile created previously on the SIP server you are connecting to.

  • Password: Enter the password or secret key of the SIP profile created on the SIP server you are connecting to.

  • Send Registration: Select "YES" if your SIP connection requires sending a registration as part of the security protocol.

This form also allows you to add advanced configuration parameters if necessary when establishing the connection between telephone systems. It is important to note that these parameters do not have to be completed obligatorily, as the basic configuration has default values for them. Only in situations where specific configuration is required, you can edit one or more of the following parameters:

  • Availability Attempt Frequency: This parameter sets how often the connection between the systems is checked, using periodic sending of OPTIONS packets from the SIP protocol.

  • User Identity for the FROM Header: Indicates the contact information of the initiating system in the SIP INVITE request.

  • FQDN for the FROM Header: Defines the fully qualified domain name of the telephone system initiating the SIP INVITE request.

  • DTMF Tone: Configures Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) for the SIP connection between the systems.

  • Enable TCP Transport: Activates sending SIP protocol packets over the TCP protocol.

  • Prematuremedia: Select "YES" if you want to send empty media packets before the call is in a ringing or progress state.

  • Progressinband: Select "YES" so that, when requesting the RING event, 180 Ringing is always sent first (if not already sent), followed by 183 Session Progress and in-band audio.

Verify the information entered for both basic and advanced configuration and click Save to add the new trunk. If the process is carried out successfully, Sagicc will redirect you to the Trunks module, where you can view the newly created trunk in the list and validate its connection status.
